Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) Review

For past couple of days I dedicated myself to this manga and wow it just blew my mind. I really enjoyed this manga and I have been looking manga of this kind of genre. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' translates to 'Advancing Giants', both anime and manga popularly known with title 'Attack on Titan', written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The series won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2011.
Shingeki no Kyojin
As much as the title conveys, it's Humans Vs Titans, their struggle for survival and no further spoilers from my side. It can be mainly classified into genres : Action, Mystery, dark humor, supernatural and Thriller.

Story: Starting from first issue, it keeps the tempo and carriers the suspense all the way. Every chapter unravels few details of history along with plot and character development. So far I liked every chapter and direction of plot where it is heading. All in all story gets 4/5.

Art and Illustration: Clever use of panel space and characters were more pronounced compared to background. Though a panel delivers its entire idea, detail and emotion, sketching is bit messy. Objects contains many scratchy  lines instead of free-form smooth drawings. Characters give a visual vibe similar to Claymore. Story telling: 4.5/5, Art: 3.5/5.

Characters: Here comes the best and worst part. You won't find annoying characters like sakura, orihime, No wasting panel time on fodders. Only characters that are relevant to current running arc gets much development while the rest have to wait until their turn which is not good because it may seems sudden and forced. Main character has one aim and he is open to alter it if necessary depending on truth he finds and he doesn't carry bullshit philosophy. Author is neither sexiest nor racist, so you will find many strong female characters who can kick titans ass. 3.75/5

Anime: Original Adaptation of manga made into Anime which started airing since April 2013. The animation quality of every episode is top-notch. Considering crappy shippuuden episodes, end of bleach anime, cartoon-ey one piece epidoses(it still rocks!), this AOT anime is delight to watch. 4.5/5

So far 47 chapters (45 pages each = 115 regular jump chapters) are released and 16 anime episodes are aired, so its too early to get a fixated opinion. It is very essential to carry the quality until the very end. Hope it does........overall rating 4.25/5.
